Avocado Green Mattress review: the deepest certification list, and a full year to decide

Avocado's whole argument is certification depth, and honestly, it's a strong one. The Green Mattress is certified organic at the finished product level under GOTS, and the brand lists five further standards for the whole mattress.

Underneath all that, it's a latex hybrid: GOLS certified organic Dunlop latex over up to 1,379 individually wrapped coils in seven zones, and you've got three feels to choose from. The trial's a full year, returns open after 30 days, and there's a $99 return fee if you do send it back.

How to read this table

Here's how to read that price: it's the verified starting price shown on Avocado's own website on November 5, 2026, from $1,119, and it rises with size and feel. It's not a Queen price, so you'll want to check the size and feel you're after on Avocado's own page.

  • Who it is not forYou're set on an all latex build with no coils, in which case this isn't your bed.
  • Returns, in plain termsReturns open after 30 days, and there's a $99 fee if you return it.

Avocado's argument is certification depth, and it's hard to argue with the list. The Green Mattress is certified organic at the finished product level under GOTS, and the brand lists five further standards for the whole mattress, including OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I, EWG Verified, MADE SAFE, GREENGUARD Gold and UL Formaldehyde Free. The latex is GOLS certified organic Dunlop over up to 1,379 individually wrapped coils in seven zones, and it's needle tufted by hand in California.

The Medium feel carries 3 inches of latex at 11 inches high, and it's the brand's most popular. Plush carries 5 inches at 13 inches high, and it's positioned for side sleepers. Firm carries 2 inches at 11.5 inches. You've got a full year for the trial, with a $99 return fee, and the warranty runs 25 years with the first 10 non prorated.

Here's what I'd pay attention to: the latex depth matters as much as the label. A soft label on a thin comfort layer can feel firmer in practice than a medium label on a thick one, so compare the latex inches, not just the word. Avocado also states that its Green Mattress line sets no weight limit.

Just so you know, the firmness ratings and the sleep positions each model is positioned for are each brand's own published positioning, not our testing.

Construction

Coils, latex and certifications

The Avocado Green Mattress uses up to 1,379 individually wrapped coils in seven zones, with firmer coils through the hip and lumbar zone and softer coils at the shoulders and legs, by the brand's own description. Above them sits GOLS certified organic Dunlop latex, and the whole mattress is needle tufted by hand in California.

It's the deepest certification list in our comparison: GOTS at the finished product level, plus OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I, EWG Verified, MADE SAFE, GREENGUARD Gold and UL Formaldehyde Free. Our certifications guide explains what each one checks, if you want to dig in.

No, it's a hybrid: GOLS certified organic Dunlop latex over up to 1,379 individually wrapped coils in seven zones.

The short version

Verdict: buy it for certifications, three feels and a year to decide

For me, it's the deepest certification list in our comparison, three feels with the latex depth published for each, and a full year to decide. Just keep in mind that returns open after 30 days, and there's a $99 return fee.
